Abstract
Artificial intelligence (AI) is a field of computing that has been increasingly applied in healthcare services, demonstrating significant potential to enhance both the delivery of care to populations and the management of human resources. This study is based on a literature review and aims to evaluate whether the use of AI in emergency services might challenge bioethical principles in healthcare, as well as to assess its potential to improve and streamline patient triage. Online databases and grey literature providing open-access documents from the last five years were consulted in December 2024 and January 2025. This process resulted in a total of 20 documents, which were analyzed and form the basis of this review article. Articles were deemed relevant for inclusion if their abstracts or conclusions demonstrated a correlation between the identified keywords and the objectives outlined in this study.
