Integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into scholarly publishing heralds a transformative era beyond mere efficiency. As AI technologies become increasingly embedded in academic research, they offer not only the potential to enhance research processes but also to bolster the integrity and accessibility of scholarly communication. AI and generative AI (GenAI) technologies are reshaping the academic landscape by providing tools that can assist with data analysis, literature reviews, and even the drafting of complex documents. Publishers and related service providers like COPE, ICMJE, and Elsevier have outlined guidelines that underscore AI’s role as a supportive tool rather than a standalone author.
