Abstract
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming medical practices worldwide by offering innovative solutions to enduring challenges. AI excels in swiftly and accurately analyzing vast datasets, revolutionizing diagnostics, treatment, and patient management. Global adoption of AI in healthcare is advancing rapidly, and Brazil must keep pace to enhance its healthcare system. Brazil’s dual public–private healthcare system, combined with its triple disease burden (chronic, infectious diseases, and violence), positions AI as a critical tool for addressing its diverse health challenges. However, the country faces several obstacles to AI implementation, such as limited digital infrastructure, workforce skills gaps, and regulatory complexities. AI-driven early detection, particularly in chronic disease management, presents a significant opportunity to improve patient outcomes and reduce healthcare strain, as evidenced by successful case studies in Brazil. Nonetheless, ethical concerns, especially data privacy, and the high costs of implementing sophisticated AI systems, pose challenges. AI’s future in Brazilian healthcare will depend on investment in infrastructure, education, and regulatory frameworks to support responsible innovation while ensuring equity and accessibility. The promising role of AI in Brazil’s healthcare landscape requires strategic collaboration between the government, academia, and the private sector to overcome existing barriers and optimize patient care.
