Abstract
In the contemporary era of digital transformation, English remains the lingua franca of scientific discourse, serving as a gateway to global recognition and academic collaboration. Simultaneously, artificial intelligence (AI) tools—ranging from grammar checkers to large language models—are reshaping the landscape of scientific writing. This chapter critically explores the intersection of English language proficiency and AI-powered writing assistance in science, technology, and medical (STM) research. It discusses the ethical implications of AI-generated content, authorship attribution, and linguistic biases, while considering the academic pressures faced by non-native English-speaking researchers. By examining both opportunities and challenges, this chapter emphasizes the need for equitable language practices and responsible AI use to maintain the integrity and inclusivity of scientific communication.
