Abstract

Blockchain and Artificial Intelligence are two of the emerging technologies that can help transform patient care while providing data security to healthcare systems. The use of blockchain for medical data storage will give a secure and immutable ledger necessary to prevent unauthorised access and tampering with sensitive medical data. AI is supplementing this by analysing these large, secure data sets to create personalised healthcare solutions and predictive analytics and aid in diagnostic precision. In this chapter, we will learn how patients can have power over their medical records through blockchain and automate the process of sharing data with consent via smart contracts. Based on this data, AI generates precision medicines, provides real-time information about the patients, and helps develop treatment plans. Furthermore, the integration of AI with blockchain enables secure interoperability and seamless data sharing between healthcare providers while still ensuring privacy and security. However, challenges still exist to scale these blockchain-AI systems, assuring adherence to HIPAA-like regulatory frameworks and embedding this technology into existing healthcare systems. Tackling these challenges will be essential for successful deployment and broader adoption.
