Future Directions in Artificial Intelligence: Trends, Challenges, and Human Implications

Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) is probably one of the outstanding technological transformations which has been welcomed from all corners. This paper looks into the ‘next step(s)’ towards AI, in particular, the increment of its application across various industries and its expectations from the world. We attempt to assess the present stages as well as future contours of the technology in the study of AI by utilizing a mixed-methods approach that introduces existing body of work and field samples of case studies. Other pertinent aspects, including ethical concerns as regards its use, prospects of job displacements, and above all, the nature of human-computer interaction, are also assessed for further understanding of the picture. The research aims to highlight the increasing need for responsible development of AI that includes security measures against human harmful potential applications of its technologies. In numerous ways, our research focuses on how these discourses pertaining to the ethical use of AI technologies in future are likely to develop.
