Abstract
Background: This study aimed to evaluate the accuracy and reliability of ChatGPT's answers to frequently asked patient questions and technical questions requiring specialized knowledge in dental bleaching treatments. Methods: A total of 30 questions, including patient and technical questions about dental bleaching treatment, were selected to be asked to ChatGPT. ChatGPT was accessed on November 15, 2023. A new chat window was opened for each question asked. Responses were evaluated using a 5-point Likert scale. An independent two-sample t-test was used to assess the data statistically. Results: The study included 9 restorative specialists. The mean score for answers to patient questions was 4.08, while the mean score for answers to technical questions was 4.04. No significant difference was observed between the two categories (p>0.05). Conclusion: ChatGPT provided accurate answers to patient questions and technical questions about dental bleaching treatments. However, it should be used cautiously because it generates false information and irrelevant answers. ChatGPT can be a useful resource for both physicians and patients to satisfy their curiosity about whitening treatment. However, it is crucial to consider the limitations and potential risks of the practice carefully. Keywords: Tooth Discoloration, Tooth Bleaching, Artificial Intelligence, Patient
