Abstract

This chapter addresses the potential for the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) with the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and its impact on project management and customer experience. We explore how AI can be leveraged throughout the SDLC to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and customer satisfaction. Software product development firms must incorporate emerging technologies to keep them paced with the existing competitive market. This chapter proposes extensive use of AI techniques such as deep learning, machine learning, and natural language processing that can be incorporated into the SDLC to boost productivity and provide the companies with a competitive advantage. This work relates AI techniques and their application in various phases of software development. It provides a mapping framework that summarizes AI techniques and their possible uses during different software development phases. Our study has found that AI techniques can be applied to all phases of software development, from the requirement management phase to the maintenance and support phase, and can highly boost the productivity of software development organizations. The proposed framework thus can act as a guide for software development organizations suggesting various techniques and applications of AI that can enhance the software development process.
