Abstract
Abstract This chapter applies the methodical approach to law and technology developed earlier in the book, demonstrating its flexibility and rigor across a series of diverse case studies. Using a consistent four-step methodology—defining the technology, assessing its impacts on human affordances, framing legal analysis against a normative baseline, and proposing interventions—the chapter explores how augmented reality challenges tort law’s traditional limits, how adversarial machine learning exposes the need to update cybersecurity law, and how cochlear implants raise profound questions of participatory justice in health law. While the contexts and normative perspectives vary, the common method clarifies assumptions, foregrounds choices, and strengthens legal analysis, offering a path for law and technology scholarship that is both more rigorous and more responsive to the societal implications of emerging technologies.
