Abstract

Based on a comprehensive analysis of both national and international literature concerning generative artificial intelligence and its intersection with education, this study delves into the profound implications of generative AI, epitomized by ChatGPT, on the professional development of educators. It meticulously examines the dual facets of its influence: the beneficial impacts and the inherent risks. The research reveals that ChatGPT has the potential to revolutionize the temporal framework of teachers' schedules, enrich their access to a diverse array of learning materials, and transform their pedagogical approaches. Conversely, it also poses challenges to conventional educational paradigms, raises ethical questions regarding academic honesty, and its susceptibility to inaccuracies could potentially misdirect teachers' learning trajectories. It is recommended that teachers adopt a proactive stance, embracing the opportunities while navigating the challenges, by enhancing their digital literacy and proficiency in AI applications. They should exercise discernment to sift through information, extracting what is of value, and leverage ChatGPT as a tool to facilitate the evolution and enhancement of their professional learning.
