Abstract
Through mix-method research, this study explores the role of ChatGPT in learning international politics, using China-ASEAN AI cooperation as a case. By comparing perspectives between students and experts, we assess the effectiveness of ChatGPT -generated responses in facilitating international political learning. A total of 95 students and 5 experts were recruited in the study. Results indicate that students generally trust ChatGPT as a credible information source, viewing it as an effective tool for grasping complex political concepts. However, experts highlight significant limitations, including a lack of depth in responses, potential ideological biases, and insufficient critical analysis of nuanced issues. These differences indicate the need for cautious integration of AI in the field of international politics. The findings suggest that while ChatGPT could serve as a valuable supplementary resource, it should not replace traditional learning methods or expert guidance.
