Abstract
In this study, we examined the influence of job insecurity and performance pressure on AI learning anxiety and its subsequent impact on decision-making preparedness (prepDM) among employees in the healthcare sector. Utilizing Cognitive Appraisal Theory (CAT), we propose that these workplace stressors increase AI learning anxiety and diminish employees' prepDM capabilities. Our empirical analysis, grounded in data from healthcare employees, substantiates that job insecurity and performance pressure significantly impact AI learning anxiety, thereby impairing prepDM. Importantly, we identify that employee's strong value alignment with AI values acts as a moderating factor, alleviating these negative effects. These findings indicate that fostering a positive cognitive appraisal of AI can shift its perception from a threat to an opportunity. This research contributes significantly to the field of management information systems by connecting traditional workplace stressors with the integration of contemporary AI technology. Theoretically, it enhances our understanding of human behavior during technological transitions. Practically, it offers critical insights for healthcare leaders and IT tech providers on effectively incorporating AI into healthcare settings, highlighting the need to reduce job-related stress and promote a positive outlook towards AI.
