Abstract

This study investigates the impact of Generative AI (GenAI), particularly ChatGPT, on decision-making accuracy and metacognitive confidence in higher education settings. By conducting a quasi-experimental study involving 90 master’s students across two academic institutions, the research compares decision-making performance and confidence levels between students using traditional methods and those employing ChatGPT as a decision-support tool. The findings reveal that while the traditional decision-making approach fostered higher decision accuracy, the use of GenAI led to a significant increase in metacognitive confidence, raising concerns about potential
