Abstract
This chapter examines the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in modern healthcare, focusing on its applications for aging populations and geriatric care. It analyzes how AI enhances diagnostic accuracy, clinical decision-making, and healthcare efficiency while addressing increasing demands due to workforce shortages and demographic changes. The chapter highlights AI's ability to process large and complex datasets from electronic health records, genetic profiles, and wearable devices, as demonstrated in case studies such as Google's Med-PaLM 2 and AI-enabled digital hospitals. Ethical considerations, including data privacy, algorithmic bias, equitable access, and human oversight, are discussed, emphasizing the importance of responsible innovation and representative datasets. The chapter concludes that AI offers transformative potential for improving patient outcomes in older adults and the broader population, but its benefits depend on careful integration with ethical governance and patient-centered practices.
