Impacts of Artificial Intelligence on Education

Abstract

The quick evolution of artificial intelligence (AI) has affected society in many areas recently, changing the way people interact with technology and with each other. The development of tools such as ChatGPT (Generative Pre-Trained Transformer), which are based on artificial neural networks to create coherent, meaningful texts, demonstrates the effects of AI on higher education. These technologies can change the way professors work and unlock new perspectives for the learning process. Outcomes show that educational institutions must be adapted due to the AI, prioritizing human development instead of automation and not the opposite. Given this scenario, this article uses an investigative approach to identify parameters and bibliographic context about the effects of AI on education. What would be the challenges in the future? What would be the consequences? What could we expect and plan to create a safer and more efficient environment for all users, no matter what their level of schooling is? In other words, the implication of this article is to provide a broader view of the impact, whether positive or negative, of AI (more specifically the frequent use of ChatGPT) for safe and efficient progress in the context of education so that students could use innovative tools without losing the challenge and credibility of learning and innovating more and more each day.
