Abstract
One of the key aspects of artificial intelligence training that has become apparent is the failure to recognize where and how underrepresented (and Indigenous) populations can be incorporated into future thinking about AI developments. This chapter discusses the points of underrepresentation across several populations who experience healthcare disparities, the impact of this, and what unintended biases may occur when developing an AI system, and offers strategies to ensure these challenges are negotiated in the future.
