Abstract
Generative artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming an important tool across all fields of human activity. Gradually, it is also entering the field of education in lower secondary schools, where it can support the development of subject knowledge and soft skills. This pilot research focuses on ways to integrate generative AI into teaching. The aim of the pilot research is to present a proposal for specific teaching activities in Czech language teaching and to outline the possible benefits and risks. The pilot study utilised a quasi-experimental method with an evaluation questionnaire and a semi-structured interview. The proposed activities were pilot tested using the ChatGPT app and other digital tools. The results show that activities supported by generative AI increase students' motivation and improve their engagement in learning. The findings suggest that proper integration of AI can innovate the learning process if it is complemented by adequate teacher training and consideration of the specificities of the students’ age.
