Abstract
Beyond artificial to the very real, this column helps nurse leaders prepare for conversations about thoughtful adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in health care. By reimagining what is possible, nurse leaders can create pathways to a new renaissance where human insight and digital intelligence are synchronized to advance health care. From nurses' daily lives with AI to the diagnosis of rare diseases, this column discusses past progress and current practices. The evolution of AI has included algorithmic, analytical, and artistic eras, each building on the previous. Through real examples and adoption strategies, this column explores how AI assistants can offer nurses the gift of time to care, synthesize complex patient information, detect risks earlier, and coordinate care teams.
