Abstract
Abstract Artificial Intelligence (AI), particularly generative AI (GenAI), is increasingly shaping how universities design teaching, conduct assessment, and govern learning. Evidence from recent ScienceDirect studies indicates that most higher education institutions are neither fully embracing nor fully banning AI. Instead, they are adopting an open-but-cautious approach that encourages pedagogical experimentation while enforcing safeguards related to academic integrity, data privacy, and ethical use. This balanced strategy reflects the evolving role of AI as a transformative yet carefully managed component of modern higher education systems.
