Abstract
Abstract Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming university education through three interconnected dimensions: instructional and assessment design, student learning and engagement, and measurable academic outcomes. Recent evidence from ScienceDirect-indexed reviews and meta-analyses indicates that AI—particularly generative AI tools such as ChatGPT—generally produces positive effects on learning and academic performance. However, these effects are highly dependent on the quality of AI integration, including task design, instructional guidance, assessment structure, and student support mechanisms. This highlights that educational impact is driven not by the presence of AI alone, but by how strategically and pedagogically it is implemented within higher education systems.
