Abstract
Abstract Artificial Intelligence (AI), particularly generative AI (GenAI), is accelerating transformation in how universities regulate academic work, design learning environments, and govern educational technologies. Recent institutional evidence reported in ScienceDirect shows a consistent global pattern: universities seek to promote innovation and experimentation with AI while simultaneously managing critical risks related to academic integrity, data privacy, equity, and institutional trust. This balanced governance approach highlights AI’s role as both a catalyst for educational innovation and a driver of new regulatory and ethical frameworks in higher education. Keywords Artificial Intelligence; Generative AI; Higher Education Governance; Educational Policy; Academic Integrity; Digital Transformation; Institutional Trust
