Abstract
This study examines the impact of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) on human decision-making, with a focus on cognitive augmentation and associated risks. The research explores how generative AI systems support, enhance, and influence human judgment across various domains such as education, healthcare, business, and everyday decision processes. The analysis highlights the benefits of generative AI in improving efficiency, accuracy, and problem-solving capabilities while also addressing critical challenges, including cognitive dependency, bias amplification, over-reliance on automated systems, and ethical concerns. Through a comprehensive review of existing literature and practical use cases, this work evaluates the balance between human autonomy and AI-assisted decision-making. The findings emphasize the importance of responsible AI design, transparency, and human-in-the-loop approaches to ensure that generative AI acts as a supportive cognitive tool rather than a replacement for human intelligence. This study contributes to ongoing discussions on the safe and effective integration of generative AI into human decision-making frameworks.
