Abstract
The global rise in aging populations presents critical challenges for healthcare systems, particularly in managing multimorbidity, frailty, and cognitive decline. By 2050, nearly 80% of older adults will live in low- and middle-income countries, highlighting a rapidly aging global population. Artificial intelligence (AI) offers promising solutions by enhancing diagnosis, disease prediction, personalized treatment, rehabilitation, and quality of life for older adults. This chapter reviews major AI applications in geriatric care, including cognitive support, fall detection, medication management, telehealth, and emergency response. Case examples such as Care Predict,ElliQ, demonstrate how AI-driven tools are improving real-time monitoring, early detection of health decline, safety, and independent living.
