Abstract

This study analyses student feedback on the Mobile Device Programming (MDP) course, introduced for the first time in the Bachelor of Biomedical Engineering program at the Polytechnic University of Coimbra, during the 2024/2025 academic year. The study analyzes students' utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, such as ChatGPT, as a learning aid for their learning process, along with their perceptions of the impact of AI on education and the job market. The findings indicate that students use AI for a variety of purposes, such as understanding code, detecting errors, solving exercises and carrying out practical assignments. Most students believe that AI can personalize learning and improve pass rates in higher education, but they also recognize the risks of over-reliance on AI and the loss of critical thinking.
