Abstract

Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) is transforming higher education by enabling adaptive, personalized, and scalable learning environments. Within software engineering curricula, Software Project Management (SPM) poses unique pedagogical challenges, as it requires students to master both theoretical concepts and practical skills such as planning, teamwork, documentation, and decision-making. This paper investigates the integration of GenAI into SPM education through a project-centered intervention with 27 undergraduate students who developed functional prototypes themed around Malay Pantun. ChatGPT-4 was applied to automate project documentation, generate project artifacts, simulate stakeholder communication, and support cultural content creation. Building on Education 4.0 and Education 5.0 principles, a conceptual framework grounded in Kolb's Experiential Learning Theory, the TPACK model, and the AI-Pedagogical Integration Framework is proposed. Case-based findings demonstrate how GenAI enhances project-based learning while revealing challenges related to over-reliance, cultural accuracy, and ethical integrity. The study concludes that GenAI, when thoughtfully integrated, can transform SPM education into a dynamic and culturally relevant ecosystem that develops adaptive, collaborative, and industry-ready graduates.
