Abstract
The enthusiasm surrounding the use of artificial intelligence (AI) enabled digital solutions in healthcare is tempered by uncertainty around how it will change the work practices of clinicians and other healthcare professionals. This study examines an under-researched topic: the impact, as well as the perceptions, of digital automation via the implementation of AI-enabled technology (AIET) on doctors, nurses and allied health professionals (AHPs) who provide or facilitate care to patients in high-volume low-complexity care pathways. Our preliminary findings shed light onto some perceived challenges and benefits of AIET implementation, as well as capturing the early impacts of AI adoption in this particular care pathway.
