Abstract
Abstract The chapter considers the ethical and managerial implications of integrating generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI) into the Knowledge Management (KM) processes. The introduction of various Gen AIs, such as ChatGPT, GPT-3, GPT-4, DALL-E2 and others, in recent years, and their integration into KM are currently revolutionizing KM processes by enhancing efficiency, innovation and competitive advantage for organizations. A wealth of evidence, including use cases, indicates that Generative AI models provide various benefits and opportunities. However, there are numerous challenges and ethical concerns that arise in the process of implementing Gen AIs in the KM process, which can hinder the realization of the benefits. These challenges and concerns include privacy issues, biases and discrimination, employee displacement and copyright infringement, such as plagiaristic visual outputs. The paper highlights the ethical and managerial implications and concludes with the steps organizations should take to overcome these challenges and concerns associated with Gen AI.
