Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasingly integrated into healthcare systems, and nurses must be prepared to understand and utilize AI-based applications in clinical practice. The present study aimed to compare the baseline (pre-test) knowledge of nursing students regarding the use of Artificial Intelligence in healthcare between experimental and control groups before implementation of a nurse-led video-assisted teaching programme. A quantitative research approach was adopted, and the study involved 200 B.Sc. Nursing students from selected nursing colleges in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The control group (n = 100) and experimental group (n = 100) were assessed using a structured knowledge questionnaire during the pre-test phase. The results revealed that the mean pre-test knowledge score of the experimental group (Mean = 11.80, SD = 2.10) was higher than that of the control group (Mean = 9.20, SD = 2.40). The calculated independent t-value (t = 5.71) was significant at the 0.05 level, indicating a statistically significant difference between the two groups in baseline knowledge. Hence, the null hypothesis was rejected. The findings highlight that baseline homogeneity was not established for knowledge scores, and the study suggests that subsequent post-test comparisons should be interpreted alongside within-group improvements.
