Abstract
The research presents the perspectives of both Software Engineering industry professionals and Software Engineering academics on using Generative Artificial Intelligence, in Software Engineering classrooms and beyond. The study has adopted purposeful sampling where a sample of forty Software Industry professionals and thirty Software Industry academics were targeted to analyze perspectives. The study followed an Exploratory study design with Focus Group Discussions to collect perspectives and utilized thematic analysis to analyze the responses. The current research concludes that even though few similarities exist, Software Engineering industry and academia mainly poses different perspectives on the use of Generative AI tools in Software Engineering classroom and beyond.
