Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly emerging as a transformative force in healthcare, with significant potential to reshape dental practice. This study explores the perceptions, current utilization, and anticipated future trends of AI among dental professionals. Through a cross-sectional survey of 500 participants, including undergraduates, postgraduates, practitioners, and academicians, we investigate the awareness, acceptance, and integration of AI technologies in dentistry. The findings reveal notable group differences, such as limited familiarity among undergraduates (70 % not familiar) compared to higher recognition among academicians (33 % very familiar), with statistically significant variations (<tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$p; 0.05$</tex>). Attitudes also varied, with undergraduates showing higher comfort with AI tools, while postgraduates expressed greater skepticism. These insights highlight AI's potential to enhance diagnostic precision and treatment planning, while also emphasizing concerns regarding reliability, ethics, and training needs. By mapping these perspectives, this research informs strategies for effective implementation and supports the seamless integration of AI into clinical workflows to improve patient care.
