Generative AI-Driven Telehealth and Smart Patient Engagement in Nursing

Abstract
Generative AI is transforming smart nursing by enhancing telehealth delivery, virtual nursing assistants and AI supported patient engagement. This chapter examines how generative AI technologies support nurses in providing personalized, continuous and responsive care beyond traditional clinical settings. The chapter also explores AI driven patient engagement strategies that promote adherence, self management and real time monitoring through conversational and remote care platforms. Ethical and practical challenges including data privacy, transparency, algorithmic bias, trust and equitable access are critically analyzed within a human centered design framework. By emphasizing collaboration between nurses and intelligent systems this chapter shows how generative AI can augment professional judgment, strengthen therapeutic relationships and contribute to safe effective and compassionate healthcare delivery in smart nursing environments.
