Abstract
The purpose of this qualitative inquiry was to explore the perceptions of healthcare IT professionals regarding the advantages, obstacles, and ethical issues of implementing AI-driven NLP solutions to identify strategies for effective integration in the United States. Using purposive sampling, nine healthcare IT professionals – including systems analysts, engineers, administrators, and clinicians – participated in a semi-structured interview. Data analysis, guided by Social Cognitive Theory, revealed five key themes: optimism about efficiency and workflow improvements, concerns about accuracy and reliability risks, resistance to change as a barrier to adoption, the need for ethical oversight and patient trust, and the importance of training and user-centered design. The study addresses a research gap regarding the “human” element of IT implementation, emphasizing the importance of addressing trust and ethical concerns to foster a comprehensive framework for responsible AI adoption in healthcare organizations.
