Abstract

This article presents a comprehensive analysis of the opportunities and risks associated with the integration of generative artificial intelligence (AI) into the education system. Key advantages include personalized learning and the use of adaptive systems aimed at increasing engagement, improving teaching and learning outcomes, and meeting the needs of all participants in the educational process. Particular attention is paid to the role of AI in promoting inclusion, in particular by creating accessible learning environments and promoting barrier-free development, which is particularly relevant for Ukrainian society. It is established that AI tools can be effectively applied at various stages of scientific research, as well as in optimizing administrative processes in higher education institutions from automating routine tasks and ensuring quick access to information to enhancing communication efficiency and developing strategies for engaging the academic community. The potential of AI to reduce faculty workload in grading, schedule creation, and documentation management is outlined. The article examines key risks associated with AI implementation, including ethical and legal challenges: excessive reliance on automated solutions that may diminish critical thinking skills, breaches of academic integrity, and threats to personal data protection. Furthermore, the study reviews international experiences of AI integration in education (United Kingdom, India, USA, Finland), which demonstrate the effectiveness of adaptive systems in shaping individual learning pathways. Statistical data on AI application outcomes in educational processes are provided. Recommendations for safe and effective AI implementation are formulated, focusing on maintaining a balance between automation and learner autonomy, introducing ethical regulations, ensuring systematic teacher training, automation of administrative tasks, and providing equal access to technology.
