Abstract
The usefulness of ChatGPT in both the free and paid versions was tested with computer engineering students at Bulacan State University to see how well it works as a help with academic tasks. As students are increasingly using artificial intelligence for academic purposes, it is important to figure out how good these tools are at helping people learn. Researchers used a quantitative descriptive-comparative method and got answers from eighty-eight students through a questionnaire. The students performed school tasks with both AI versions and in nearly the same conditions. The study discovered that students used the free ChatGPT much more, as it is easier to get to, but ChatGPT Plus did better in terms of how correct the answers were, how fast it responded, and how efficient it was. Still, the money needed to subscribe was seen as the main reason students would, or wouldn’t, pay to get Plus. This means that although both versions are good for academic work, ChatGPT Plus gives better help with the harder, technical assignments in computer engineering courses.
