Abstract
Through relevant theoretical analysis and practical verification, this study aims to reveal the potential impact of the Chat Generative Pre-Trained Transformer (ChatGPT) on students' critical thinking skills. At the same time, it provides suggestions for the rational application of artificial intelligence (AI) to promote the development of critical thinking. Thus, it can offer references for ChatGPT's sustainable development and application scope expansion. The study adopts a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods, constructs multi-dimensional indicator calculation equations, and integrates students' subjective experiences. Meanwhile, it uses public databases such as the Education Resources Information Center (ERIC), Web of Science, Scopus, and IEEE Xplore to evaluate different versions of ChatGPT. The study shows that ChatGPT positively impacts students' critical thinking skills in higher education and can effectively help students build a rational thinking system.
