Abstract
The rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) is significantly shaping education, bringing both opportunities and challenges for higher education institutions. This study explores how Slovak university students perceive the use of AI in the learning process, their experiences with specific tools, and their attitudes toward its formal integration into the academic environment. The research is based on a questionnaire survey addressing the frequency of AI use, the diversity of tools employed (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, Bard, Meta AI), perceived benefits and concerns, and views on incorporating AI into teaching. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation tests, and multiple regression analysis, while openended responses were examined through thematic analysis. Preliminary results indicate that frequent AI use and higher perceived benefits increase the likelihood of supporting its integration, whereas concerns and risk perceptions reduce it. The study provides empirical insights into the current level of AI adoption among Slovak students and offers recommendations for universities aiming to implement AI in an effective and ethical way.
