Mapping knowledge landscapes and emerging trends of digital healthcare: a bibliometric and visual analysis

Abstract

Objective: To understand the characteristics of digital healthcare, to explore and grasp the current research status, hot situations and development trends of digital healthcare, to analyze and discuss the influencing factors of digital healthcare in different aspects, to explore the potential improvement strategies and to provide references for the future healthy development of digital healthcare. Methods: Using Web of Science as the search source, we selected the literature with the theme of "digital health", searched the relevant research literature published from the establishment of the database to July 2024, and used the bibliometric software CiteSpace 6.2.R6 to analyze the literature econometrically. Results: A total of 3505 valid documents were included, with an overall upward trend in the number of publications, and the hot keywords were digital healthcare, mobile health, etc. The research hotspot changes from personal digital assistant, electronic health record to the direction of health information technology, home monitoring and so on. Conclusions: Digital healthcare research is gaining increasing attention from researchers and is characterized by strong interdisciplinary integration. It's important to improve digital healthcare research, promote collaboration among authors and institutions, and broaden the range of research topics. This will help digital healthcare grow and improve healthcare services, contributing to the growth of the medical industry.
